The first phase begins in 2011 and includes roof glazing, all-glass sliding system, shaped glass roofs, doors, glass cages and metal structure with stairs and grating landings. The second phase of work begins in 2014, including a new construction attached to the pillars of the external structure: the canopy.
Seven huts are dedicated to accommodate writers in residence, the other four are used to host the site's administrative and operational functions. Each hut includes a living space on the one hand and a module for writing and working on the other. The huts are suspended from the canopy by steel tie rods and secured to the ground by concrete bases or stairs connected to the bases. The first opening to submissions in 2017 was a great success, nearly 900 writers from all over the world applied, only a few elected officials are currently residing in its unusual huts.
